Lunch Box

So, we have matching lunch boxes. They are in fact, the "Remake the Heat-wave" collapsable coolers we got at convention a couple years ago. They fit our needs perfectly in terms of size and pockets and so forth.

We take everything—lunch, breakfast, snacks, etc—for the day in plastic containers, but sometimes they leak. Applesauce for instance can leak out of anything. Therein lies the problem. The collapsable lunch boxes are reinforced by a stiff flap in the bottom under which all the escaped juices and condensation collect. Can you say Anaerobic? It smells bad too.

So, Sunday we drive up to the big Fred Meyer in Ballard to see about getting lunch boxes that don't have hidden spaces, and are easier to clean than our current ones. It turns out that aside from a few sad and generic kids lunch boxes, they don't carry any. "Lunchboxes," we were informed, "are a seasonal item." They only carry them at back-to-school time. Even the adult ones.

Okay then.
