You've got to be in pictures...
Jan. 13th, 2006 04:55 pmI finally did the My Heritage face recognition thing with the Celebrity matches button checked. Some of my results were: Kevin Costner (63%!), Bono, Philip K. Dick, Russel Crowe, Henri Rousseau, John Cleese, Grover Clevland, Brandon Lee, James Garfield, Calvin Coolidge.
I had a hell of a time trying to find a picture of Ron that would register any results. One amusing result it that I used a picture of he and I with Keith Gehrig. The photo recognizer algorithm recognized both Keith and I, but not Ron. Keith apparently looks like both Ozzy Ozbourne, and Clark Gable...
I finally got a picture of Ron to register a result, and he wound up with Hugh Grant as his top match, followed by Zsolt Baumgartner, Pavel Nedved, Liam Neeson, Robert De Niro, L. Frank Baum, and Ben Affleck.
Of course, the biggest thing you discover playing with this, is that it has a long ways to go — different pictures return totally different results. It would need a lot of sample points and really good pictures to be accurate. it is kind of fun though.
