This is my life. I can't even tell you the number of students who have told me I am their favorite teacher and they have gotten a lot out of my class even though they have turned nothing in and are failing the course. How can I get through to them that if they are getting "D"s in all their classes, they only thing they will be prepared to do when they graduate from college is be a baby-momma in a trailer court in Tukwilla?

I have the same cold that [livejournal.com profile] kehf and [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic have. I know a lot of people have it, but mine seems to have started on the same day as theirs, so that makes it extra special!

And typically, I got the cold after I finally got back to the gym and started working out again. Apparently the universe wants me to be one of those old people with the pill bottles lined up on the dinning room table next to a 40 year old ashtray as testimony to not having taken care of themselves when they were younger. But I've lost 5lbs working out and changing my diet around, and I am going to loose 15 more and keep working out and the universe can just screw itself.

He says grumpily.

Convention is coming up soon. I'm not ready to be gone for a week or to be around that many people. I am extra nervous because of something in particular, but I will report on that after convention. Ross has been working hard on his routine for the Honkey-Tonk queen contest. As much as I truly detest drag, I love Ross dearly and hope he wins.

Less than a month and we are off to Santa Clara...

[livejournal.com profile] bearfuz is in town with the show he is traveling with. We had a nice visit with him yesterday. He is such a sweetheart. We will see him again on Tuesday for Bearaoke at the Timberline, then he is off to San Francisco and then back home to New York. We had lunch at the Hi-spot which was a treat since we never get to go there for lunch. Of course, I had my usual huevos rancheros anyway, but it was nice to have all kinds of other choices to think about before choosing my usual.

Anyway, that is it for now. Off to take a nap.

[livejournal.com profile] kehf tagged me for the "list your current favorite songs, then pick six other people to do the same" meme.

I suspect I would choose different songs if I were in a different mood or it were a different day. I went with songs that, well, hmmm. What do they do. Engage me on a deeper level than just toe-tapping I guess would be a way to put it. That describe me a little bit. It is not really possible to have only six favorite songs, even for a non-audiophile like myself, is it?

Angels On The Balcony by Blondie from the album Autoamerican

Hallucinating Pluto by the B52s from the album Time Capsule: Songs For A Future Generation

Behind the Wheel by Depeche Mode from the album Behind The Wheel

Laura's Aura by Combustible Edison from the album The Impossible World

Gypsy by Suzanne Vega from the album Solitude Standing

The Chain by Fleetwood Mac from the album Rumours

And as a bonus:

Lusty Month of May from the musical Camalot on the Camelot (1960 Original Broadway Cast) album as sung by the incomparable Julie Andrews.

For the totally optional tags, I will go with the people I think will be the least annoyed by being tagged.
