Just a quick update

As I was sitting down I realized I could make this update go on for page after page, but, just to pick on thing. I went to the doctor today for a followup after some blood work. Everything looks great. All my numbers are in the correct areas except my fats, which are lower than they should be. Combined with my ongoing digestive troubles, and some problem with dry skin, he feels like I am not digesting fats like I should be so we are working to fix that. Pretty minor compared to the awful tummy problems I was having.

So, no wheat or dairy for me until we get all the inflammation in my digestive tract under control. Again, not a big deal since I feel so much better, though it is a bummer when it comes to eating out.

One good thing is that in the 3 or 4 months that I have not been able to eat those two food groups, I have lost nearly twenty pounds. I am almost back to what I consider my "normal" weight! Hooray!

Sorry, but I can't recall: have you been tested for Celiac's?

It is a really expensive test so we are waiting till we get the inflammation down. The doctor doesn't want me to have to spend the money until we are sure it would be beneficial since he doesn't have a lot of confidence in the test. If it is positive you know something, but enough people test negative and still react to wheat that he doesn't put a lot of faith in it.

If it does turn out to be wheat, it is way more likely that it is a basic gluten intolerance though. Full blown Celiacs is pretty rare.

Lost weight? Wimp - you just haven't been compensating properly! Didn't I teach you anything?

Well, if you think about it, that is not what most of our "lessons" together have focused on...

Congrats on the weight loss... as far as side-effects go, that's a pretty good one. Still, it's a pain to have to continue such a strict regimen for a while longer. I hope the tummy issues get resolved soon so you can experiment with returning items to your menu. Especially ice cream. Ice cream misses you.

Tell Ice Cream I miss it too. In fact, have some for me. I insist.

The good news is that your numbers are where they belong, and the resulting side effect of losing weight is also a good thing (despite kent4str's comment). But yeah, having stomach issues on a regular basis is really troublesome. I hope they figure out what's causing the problems and I hope it's easily fixable.

Wow! I hope your diet has been narrowed down enough you can be comfortable! Congrats on the weight loss, too!

Just wheat (and all its gluteny little friends) and milk now. that is pretty easy to work around at home. I don't really miss either till we try to eat out.

I have enough trouble eating out now that we don't eat meat.. I can't imagine trying to do no wheat or dairy.

You did look a bit skinnier at Pride, but, I'd have to take a closer look to know for sure ;)
