Touch a Quarter Naan
This is pretty amusing (sorry Danny)
go to the IAGSDC website and click on the Touch a Quarter Century banner.

I clicked right on the Officers link without reading and was amazed at how ethnic sounding the entire board of the Cleveland convention is!

Perhaps I'm clicking on the wrong link?

I'm clicking on the banner on the home page. I wonder if it has been changed but the change has not propogated to all the servers it is cached on yet? (I am totally making that technical explination up, but that is the only reason I can think of that we would be being served differend versions of the website...)

The Telagu Association of Greater Chicago must be wondering at all of the extra web hits they're getting ...

I think this must be a problem with the banner - I'll contact the organizers. You should end up at http://www.taqc.org - and indeed, on all the Windows/IE7 systems I've tried, that's where you go. However, this is a Flash animation, and I have no idea what embedded code may be in there. It could be that they have multiple links based on platform, and that they've mistyped one of the links. In any case, I'll definitely let them know. Can you let me know (webmaster@iagsdc.org) what browser and OS you are using?

and it just dawned on me as I was typing this, that Chip got what I found so funny too, and he is viewing on a Mac as well.

I wouldn't let anyone I care about use IE as their primary browser -- too many security problems.

All the IAGSDC code that I create is tested on Firefox and IE directly; and I use Dreamweaver's compatibility testing to check that it runs on other common platforms. Since I don't have a Mac, if there are major changes to code, Kris Jensen is kind enough to test on her Mac when I release those changes. (Other testers are welcome - just write to webmaster@iagsdc.org to volunteer :-).
And in related news, I ran the stats for the first quarter for the IAGSDC site this week. Well over 90% of all accesses are from Windows machines, and of those almost all are IE7 or IE6, with a small percentage Firefox. Regardless, I will always test for at least Windows and Mac, and with a variety of popular browsers.
I'll have TAQC fix their Flash banner!

It was really my reaction to not realizing I was in the wrong place that I was posting about.
"Wow, the Cleveland Club sure has a lot of members from India!"

It was only in the dark recesses of my mind that I was aware of browser issues and coding could make pages look different on different platforms...Danny's our home guru. Hope TaQC fixes it quickly, so all those MAC users won't have conniptions (at least the ones that aren't on the instant communication tool of LJ!)
