the Candy Corn harvest

Well, they don't make Bols Pumpkin Liqueur anymore.

I am determined to figure out a mixed drink that can be garnished with a candy corn though. We actually had trouble finding candy corns this year. They had a bag of mixed candies that had candy corns and some of the mutations that are derived from them (where are the GMO protesters when it comes to pumpkin shaped candy corns?) but I wanted the real thing. We finally found a bag at the new grocery outlet place down the street. (The grocery outlet was a strange place...lots of brands I had never heard of, and Ron recognized some of the ice cream as being an east coast brand...strange.) It was an off brand, so they were probably harvested by poorly treated illegal immigrants, but they taste fresh so at least they are this years crop.

We tried making a "martini" with vodka and Frangelico, but it smelled like chocolate cake and was really sweet. It wasn't bad, but it was not right for candy corns, and wasn't very halloween like, except in the "snarf, snarf, give me more candy" sense.

Is there a honey Liqueur?

Mead is made from honey, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.

We have a bunch of mead aging, but it is not quite right I don't think.

Pumpkin soup with sherry?

(That's the closest I could get to a "mixed drink". Sorry.)

The current hurricane season seems to have been hard on the harvest. I blame global warming.

I'm thinking something with Tuaca, or an apple liqueur perhaps.

As for honey check out Barenjager Honey Liqueur and Celtic Crossing Liqueur.

Ah, right, Celtic Crossing! It's actually hard to find, at least in person -- you may have to order it from somewhere.
