Square Dancing: Hearing Assistance Products

Puddletown is finally planning to purchase hearing assistance equipment to use at our dances.

Hilton stocks the Williams Hearing Assistance Products, but Hanhurst is pushing a product from SupremeFM that costs half as much, but I have no idea how compatible it is with other systems.

Does anyone have experience with or opinions about the various hearing assist options for square dances?

After looking over both products carefully, the probable claimed trade off is signal strength vs. accessibility.

Signal Strength: The Williams product uses special transceivers NOT on an FM band. My guess is they'll claim that the "E Band" (72.9 MHz) is subject to less static and interference than an FM-based system.

Accessibility: The SupremeFM appears to work with any portable FM radio, so people can bring their own earphones and FM receivers.

The inclusion of 4 special receivers with the Williams product appears to make up a large part of the price difference.

Purely feedback from a couple of hearing impaired dancers I know - they don't like these systems! Either too loud, or too much background noise, or interfere with their own hearing aids. You might want to ask on a callers list for callers who have called at venues equipped with these devices.
