Misc stuff

They don't say what effect driving while talking on the cell phone, and steering your Escalade around tight corners with the same hand you are holding your latte with has on a person's ability to complete the course. That would be more valuable for an awful lot of drivers here in Seattle.

So, I have been reminded of why I prefer teaching the upper division courses. Freshmen girls have an alarming tendency to sit really close together whispering and giggling. It makes me absolutely crazy.

Conversational styles of art college students by grade level:

Freshmen
Boys: "Dude! You could totally be a ninja!"
Girls: *Giggle* *giggle* *Shriek!*

Sophomores
Boys: "Dude, everyone knows that's not what a half troll ninja space chicks looks like. You suck."
Girls: "So, Like, he totally wanted to do it, but I had just had five shots of Jäger and felt kind of sick, so we just hung out and drank beer while I updated my livejournal and OMG did you know so-and-so only has one tattoo!?! She sucks."

Juniors and Seniors
The weird thing is that when they become upper classmen, for the most part they end up being cool people and are fun to talk to. I guess that makes it all worthwhile. Mostly.

I had a dream the other night (I love nyquil...I wish I could take a cup of it every night...it makes everything so soft and peaceful...) that Ron and I had gone on a romantic honeymoon and were staying in a huge Victorian mansion on a tree-lined street. We woke up one morning and discovered that the vintage fire engine we had rented to make the trip in had been stolen so we hired a private detective who worked out of her tea shop/animal rescue shelter. (As an extra bonus weirdness for the square dancers who read my journal, the detective was none other than Debra Carrol-Jones....)

The flu is mostly gone. I am still exhausted all the time, but my digestive tract is back on, er, track. In fact, without doing too much TMI, it is actually kind of strange feeling to have everything working again it was all upset for so long.

I still just want to sleep all the time though.

Once Ron posts about the rest of our Christmas vacation I will fill in the details of the trip. One thing I thought I should mention is that we ended up really liking the little Chevy Aveo. The color never grew on us, but it did make it easy to find in parking lots and the car itself was a solid, comfortable vehicle. Getting one with power locks would be a must though, (and it would be much cuter as a convertible.)
